7 Ways to Create a Powerful Vision Board

Thoughts become things.  You are attracting things into your life through your thoughts.  For the thoughts to become a reality, you have to consciously and subconsciously think of them over and over again.  You have to empower the thoughts with your beliefs because simply thinking about something is not enough.

Visualization is one way to develop the beliefs in your mind, and one way to take this practice beyond the confines of your head is by creating a vision board.  This tool can help you harness your mental energy and encourage you to put more effort into achieving your goals.  The images that symbolically represent your desired goal, the quotes that motivate you to keep going, and the affirmations that keep you focused on reaching the finish line.  All these elements can be compiled into a vision board and become a smorgasbord of your dreams.  Here are seven ways you can create an empowering vision board.

  1. Create Your Personal Dream Board

Although you can order and buy vision boards from professional suppliers, making your own physical board out of a poster-board, corkboard or any material may be better and more personal.  You can even use a whiteboard and scribble your own drawings.  If you are a techie, a digital version on your computer may be the right fit for you.  You can even turn your fridge-door into a vision board with enough magnets and pictures.  There are no hard and fast rules for creating a vision board, so design your board according to your own terms.

  1. Plan Your Board

Spend time thinking about what you want your vision board to look like. Choose which life goals you want to reflect on your vision board.  Future goals may include personal growth, health, career, finances, relationships, education, social life, and even spiritual growth.  Envision how you want each area to look like once your goals are achieved.  You may create several small boards to represent several goals, or you may choose to make one big board.

  1. Placement is Key

There is no use placing your board in a part of the house that you never go.  Placement is very important.  It is recommended that you hang your board somewhere in your bedroom, or in a place where you spend most of your time. This way, you can prompt yourself to visualize your goal on a regular basis.

  1. Follow a Ritual

Create a mini ritual when you craft a powerful vision board.  When you put your board together, schedule a couple of stress-free hours one evening or weekend and make sure that you won’t be disturbed during that time.  Turn on some soothing music and light a scented candle for a relaxing atmosphere when you are working on your dream board.  When negative thoughts start to cloud your mind, take some deep breaths and allow your mind to settle down before working on your vision board.

  1. Choose Your Visuals

From old magazines, cut out some pictures that symbolize the experiences, feelings, and possessions that you want to attract into your life. You may include photos of the car you want to drive, travel destinations you want to visit, and even the house you want to live in. Get creative and use fun markers, stickers, or other scrapbook materials that may brighten your board.

Include a couple of photos of your happy and memorable past events like vacations, weddings, graduations or holidays.  Pick the pictures that make you feel good and puts a smile on your face.

  1. Add Affirmations

Add in your board anything that inspires you.  You may place inspiring quotes and positive affirmations. You may also include how you want to feel on a daily basis.  Place words such as “enthusiastic”, “motivated”, “joyful”, “fearless”, “loving”, “healthy,” and “strong”. Remember to keep it neat and orderly.  Update your board whenever it feels right.

  1. Look and Feel Good

Spend at least 5 minutes every day looking at your vision board.  With a happy heart, feel yourself in the future you have designed in your vision board.
